Tragic Collision on Pantura Road Claims Life of Elderly Motorist

A fatal accident on the Pantura Road in Tuban, East Java, resulted in the death of a 60-year-old motorist named Harsono. The incident occurred when his motorcycle collided with a dump truck, leaving him with severe injuries that proved fatal at the scene.

The accident took place on February 13, 2026, near the intersection in front of SMP Negeri 6 Tuban, located in Baturetno village. According to local authorities, the collision involved a Hino truck bearing the license plate AE 8840 NJ, driven by Imam Taufiq Efendy, a 21-year-old from Central Java.

Details from the investigation reveal that the truck was traveling eastward from Rembang towards Palang-Tuban. As it attempted to overtake another vehicle, it moved into the right lane. Simultaneously, Harsono was navigating his Honda Beat motorcycle from Patimura Street to Panglima Sudirman Street, preparing to turn at the intersection. The two vehicles collided with significant force, resulting in Harsono sustaining critical injuries.

Local police stated that the impact of the crash was severe, and Harsono was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the accident, his body was transported to the RSUD Dokter Koesma Tuban for further examination. The vehicles involved in the incident have been secured by authorities for investigation.

IPTU Eko Sulistyono, the head of the Traffic Accident Unit at Tuban Police, emphasized the circumstances surrounding the accident, saying, “At the intersection, the dump truck was overtaking, leading to an unavoidable collision with Harsono’s motorcycle, which resulted in his severe injuries and subsequent death.”

This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region, especially with increasing traffic volume on major routes. Local authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
