UPDATE: An arrest warrant has been issued for Luis Guerrero, a 36-year-old man charged with attempted murder and multiple firearm offenses following a freeway shooting incident in Livermore on June 11, 2023. This urgent situation has escalated as authorities seek to locate Guerrero, who remains at large after being released on bail.
The shooting occurred around 9:02 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 near Flynn Road, where Guerrero allegedly fired several shots at the driver of a Tesla during a road rage confrontation. Fortunately, the targeted driver was not injured, but the incident highlights the dangers of escalating disputes on the road.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials, the victim managed to obtain the license plate number of Guerrero’s 2005 GMC Yukon after the attack. This crucial information allowed CHP to alert local law enforcement agencies. Just over two hours later, at approximately 11:25 a.m., San Leandro police located the suspect’s vehicle, leading to Guerrero’s arrest.
During the arrest, Guerrero reportedly resisted officers and was tased before being treated at a hospital and booked into Santa Rita Jail. Investigators later discovered an unregistered .45 caliber pistol and shell casings in the Yukon, further complicating his legal troubles.
On November 3, Guerrero was officially charged with attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and carrying a concealed firearm. Despite these serious allegations, he was released on bail at an unspecified time and his current whereabouts are unknown, prompting heightened concern among local residents and authorities.
The CHP is urging anyone with information regarding Guerrero’s location to come forward. The road rage incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for violence in everyday disputes and the need for vigilance on the roads.
As developments unfold, this story remains urgent. Authorities are working diligently to capture Guerrero before he can pose a risk to the community again. Stay tuned for updates as the situation progresses.
