Beloved Schenectady Resident Linda L. Rees Passes Away at 79

BREAKING NEWS: Linda L. Rees, aged 79, has passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, on October 17, 2025. Surrounded by her loving niece, Linda’s departure marks a significant loss for her family and friends.

Born on August 6 in Schenectady, New York, Linda was a cherished figure in her community. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Bruce E. Rees, and her sister, Gail M. Simmons (Sparre). Known for her vibrant personality, Linda’s legacy extends beyond her family ties.

A proud graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Linda pursued her passion for beauty by obtaining her certification from Colonna Beauty School. Throughout her diverse career, she contributed to notable local businesses, including St. Johnsbury Trucking and Dr. Paul’s podiatry office. Her zest for life included a love for travel, camping, and fine wine, but shopping remained her ultimate passion, often leading to humorous moments with her husband and niece.

Linda is survived by her devoted niece, Michele “Micki” Simmons, and her beloved cat, Cha-Cha. Her family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Peregrine Senior Living at Crossgates for their compassionate care during her final days.
