UPDATE: Carson football has surged to an emphatic 41-21 victory over San Pedro, claiming its first outright Marine League title since 2010. This decisive win, achieved on October 30, 2025, solidifies Carson’s position as a powerhouse in high school football, marking a significant milestone under new head coach William Lowe.
The Colts’ quarterback Chris Fields was the standout performer, accounting for five touchdowns and amassing over 400 yards of total offense. Fields’ impressive performance included 242 passing yards and 197 rushing yards, leading Carson to a perfect 4-0 record in league play and a season record of 7-3.
This victory not only clinches the league title but sets the stage for the playoffs, with Carson eagerly awaiting the Saturday playoff pairings. Fields emphasized the team’s resilience amidst adversity, stating, “We’ve been through a lot of adversity this year… but I knew we could do it.”
The Colts established dominance early, scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions to take a commanding 21-7 lead by midway through the second quarter. Fields showcased his dual-threat capability by scoring two touchdowns with his legs.
As the game progressed, Carson’s running attack proved relentless, with a combined 352 rushing yards from Fields, Eric Myers, and Zach Brock. Brock’s crucial 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter extended Carson’s lead to 28-14.
San Pedro, despite entering the game with a scoring average of at least 48 points in previous matches, struggled to keep pace with Carson’s offensive onslaught. Coach Corey Walsh acknowledged the Colts’ execution, noting, “They just executed pretty good. We made some silly mistakes.”
Fields highlighted the trust he has in his teammates, especially wide receiver Craig Walker, who caught three touchdown passes. Walker’s speed was a game-changer, as he capitalized on Fields’ deep throws, connecting for scores of 60, 33, and 26 yards.
As Carson celebrates its long-awaited title, the Colts are now focused on the upcoming playoffs. Coach Lowe reflected on the team’s journey, emphasizing their commitment to winning the championship. “Our goal is to be the number one seed, but our goal, in general, is to win the Open every year,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Carson will prepare for the CIF L.A. City Section Open Division playoffs, with the quarterfinals set for November 14. The Colts are riding a five-game winning streak and are determined to maintain their momentum.
This triumph not only brings joy to Carson fans but also sets a tone for the upcoming challenges in the playoffs. As Fields said, “They’re starting to believe in themselves,” a sentiment that resonates deeply as the team heads into the postseason with confidence and determination.
Stay tuned for updates on Carson’s playoff journey as they aim for continued success in the CIF L.A. City Section.
