UPDATE: Central United Methodist Church is set to host its second annual Night to Shine on February 13, 2026, a spectacular celebration for special needs adults across East Mississippi and West Alabama. In partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation, this event promises to be an unforgettable evening honoring individuals with disabilities.
Participants will join a global celebration focused on God’s love, embracing and valuing those with special needs. This free event welcomes anyone aged 14 and older living with disabilities, offering a range of exciting activities including hair and makeup stations, shoeshines, corsages, and boutonnieres.
The highlight of the night is the Red Carpet Entrance where guests will be greeted by cheering crowds and flashing cameras, creating a truly royal atmosphere. The festivities continue with karaoke, gifts, a catered dinner, and even a sensory room for those needing a quiet space.
Event Coordinator Sabrina Williams shared that last year’s inaugural event was a resounding success, with over 100 volunteers from various churches and organizations contributing to the joyous occasion. “The enthusiasm of our guests was overwhelming! The smiles on their faces gave every parent and caregiver, every volunteer, a sense of joy and gratitude for this special night,” Williams stated.
One guest from the previous year exclaimed, “This was the best night of my life!” underscoring the profound impact this event has on participants.
As preparations ramp up, Central UMC invites volunteers, sponsors, and donors to contribute to this meaningful cause. Interested individuals can contact the church at 601-693-1521 or visit the Night to Shine-Meridian Facebook page for more information. Donations can also be made through the Community Foundation of East Mississippi to support this heartwarming event.
Don’t miss the chance to be part of this incredible night celebrating the worth of every individual. As one former volunteer put it, “If you think you are blessing our guests by volunteering, guess what? You are the one who will be blessed! Come join the fun! There is a spot just for you!”
