Chatfield Teams Dominate Bi-State Classic Wrestling Tournament

UPDATE: The Chatfield wrestling teams delivered an outstanding performance at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse, Wisconsin on December 29, 2025, showcasing their skills and determination. The girls’ team achieved the highest overall score of 195, while the boys secured a remarkable second place with 176.5 points among 68 boys teams.

The Chatfield girls made headlines by finishing day one of the two-day tournament with the top score, demonstrating their prowess on the mat. Standout performances came from Melody Ward (100), Maizee Priebe (114), Elle Eickhoff (145), and Eve Goetzinger (165), all of whom advanced to the semifinals. Priebe and Eickhoff were particularly impressive, each securing four pins to lead the Gophers into the next round.

On the boys’ side, top-ranked wrestler Joey Cady, competing in the 107 weight class in Class 1A, dominated the competition with a total of 30 points from four consecutive pins, successfully advancing to the semifinals scheduled for tomorrow. Cady is joined by teammates Logan Pearson (126) and Kaisen Johnson (132), both of whom also delivered stellar performances to secure their spots.

The competition heated up as Cannon Falls/Randolph saw three of its wrestlers advance to the semifinals: Garrett Williams (106), Owen Parish (113), and Adam Parish (132). Meanwhile, Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s Carl Murray reached the semifinals at 120, defeating Chatfield’s Jameson Priebe in a tense quarterfinal match that ended with a 1-0 decision.

Goodhue’s Hayden Holm also made his mark by reaching the semifinals at 150 for the Wildcats. With the second day set to begin, anticipation builds for these athletes as they compete for championship titles.
