City of South Lake Tahoe Proclaims October as Pet Wellness Month
URGENT UPDATE: The City of South Lake Tahoe has officially proclaimed October as Pet Wellness Month, recognizing the critical importance of preventative pet care. This announcement comes from the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT), which is set to enhance community health by hosting a series of low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics for local pets.
These clinics, aimed at residents in Truckee, North Lake Tahoe, and South Lake Tahoe, are designed to assist pet owners who may struggle to access veterinary care. “Pets are often overlooked when it comes to helping those in need in our community,” stated Stephanie Nistler, CEO of HSTT. “We want to ensure that our pets live healthier, safer lives.”
The clinics will offer essential services, including the DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines for dogs, as well as the FVRCP vaccine for cats. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and pet owners are reminded to bring their pets’ most recent vaccination records if available.
Key Details:
– Clinics will take place throughout October.
– All pets must remain in temperature-controlled vehicles until called.
– Dogs must be leashed; cats should be in secure carriers.
– Sick or injured pets will not be treated during these clinics.
In addition to the vaccination clinics, HSTT operates a low-cost spay/neuter program for income-qualifying residents. This initiative is vital for reducing pet overpopulation and ensuring the health of animals within the community.
With this proclamation, HSTT is pushing to raise awareness about adoption and the significance of spay/neuter services to prevent homelessness among pets. The organization is committed to supporting responsible pet ownership while enhancing the well-being of animals in the area.
For those interested in attending the upcoming clinics, detailed information is available at hstt.org or by calling 530-582-2484. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to provide essential healthcare for your pets—act now to secure your spot!
This proclamation not only highlights the community’s commitment to animal welfare but also reflects the profound bond between pets and their owners, enriching lives and fostering responsible pet care.
Stay tuned for more updates on the clinics and the ongoing efforts of HSTT to keep our furry friends healthy and safe!
