Coon Rapids Launches Urgent ‘Season of Giving’ Drive for Charities

URGENT UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has just launched its annual ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, urging residents to contribute to local charities in need. This vital initiative begins on November 24, 2023, and runs through December 15, 2023. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As the holiday season approaches, local families face mounting challenges. The community is encouraged to step up and support those in need by donating non-perishable foods, new and unwrapped toys, winter coats, and toiletries. These contributions will directly impact the lives of those struggling during this critical time.

Collection bins are conveniently placed in the front lobby of City Hall, making it easy for residents to give back. Several partner charities, including ACBC Food Shelf, Toys for Joy, Alexandra House, and Granny’s Closet, have specific needs that the community can help fulfill.

ACBC Food Shelf is urgently requesting high-need items such as flour, oil, and baby food. Meanwhile, Toys for Joy is particularly focused on collecting new, unwrapped gifts for teenagers aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards. Alexandra House seeks donations of winter coats and children’s boots, while Granny’s Closet needs personal care items like men’s razors and laundry detergent.

Additional drop-off locations include the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations. These sites are also accepting toys and food items, amplifying the reach of this important drive.

Residents are reminded that every donation helps brighten the holidays for local families while addressing ongoing struggles for basic necessities. A complete list of high-priority items is available on the City of Coon Rapids website, allowing donors to see exactly what is needed.

The ‘Season of Giving’ is not just about the items donated; it’s about fostering a sense of community and support. As the City Hall initiative kicks off, community members are called to action—your contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of those around you.

Remember, the act of giving strengthens our community ties, ensuring that everyone has a little more to celebrate this holiday season. Don’t miss the chance to make a difference—donate today!
