BREAKING: Fresno is about to experience a refreshing twist on beverages as the city welcomes its first dedicated “dirty soda bar.” Dad’s Cookies is set to cut the ribbon at The Garage in Downtown Fresno this spring, bringing a unique nonalcoholic drink trend that has captivated taste buds across the nation.
Dirty soda—a tantalizing mix of soda, flavored syrups, and creamers—has surged in popularity, becoming a social media sensation. Customers can expect to see their made-to-order sodas crafted right before their eyes, combining ingredients like blackberry vanilla Pepsi or Dr Pepper with lime and cream. This innovative approach transforms traditional soft drinks into gourmet creations, akin to Italian or cream sodas, but with virtually endless customization options.
Owner Lance Sanchez aims to create an inviting bar-like atmosphere without the alcohol. “We want to make a dirty soda as if it’s a bar,” Sanchez stated. “We want to make it the same style.” The new menu will feature an enticing array of dirty sodas alongside delectable cookies, creamy ice creams, and rich espresso drinks, catering to families and younger crowds seeking a dessert destination beyond the typical downtown brewery scene.
Located at Fulton and Inyo streets near Chukchansi Park, Dad’s Cookies is positioned to attract foot traffic from baseball games, festivals, and brewery events. As a tenant of The Garage, a multi-tenant food hub, Dad’s Cookies will play a pivotal role in a collaborative culinary community. “We don’t really look at it like competitors,” Sanchez remarked, emphasizing the spirit of partnership among local food businesses.
The Garage is preparing for a grand opening, with a preview event scheduled during FresYes Fest on March 21. This promises to showcase tenants like Gator’s Smash Burgers and Las Rancheritas, building excitement for the unique dining experiences to come.
As the countdown to opening day begins, Dad’s Cookies is finalizing permits and construction, with a target launch in spring 2024. This new establishment not only represents a fresh beverage trend but also aims to redefine the dessert landscape in Downtown Fresno, making it a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
