Edwardsville Man, 41, Charged with Violent Robbery at Walgreens
BREAKING: An **Edwardsville man** has been charged with multiple offenses, including **robbery**, following a shocking assault on two women outside a **Walgreens** on **October 25, 2023**, shortly before **10:30 p.m.** Authorities report that **Andre Dion Jerome Blair**, 41, allegedly attacked victims in the parking lot, leading to a chaotic scene as police responded.
According to police, Blair approached **Ann Stephano**, forcefully pushing her to the ground, causing a cut to the back of her head. Witness **Kristen Headley**, an employee at the Walgreens located at **201 Wyoming Ave.**, intervened, only to be assaulted herself. Blair reportedly punched Headley in the left eye and continued to beat her while stealing a digital device from her back pocket, mistaking it for a cellphone.
Police arrived on the scene promptly, witnessing Blair fleeing the area. Officers engaged in a brief foot chase, ultimately detaining him after a struggle during which he resisted arrest. The stolen device was found in his possession. During the arrest, Blair complained of chest pains and was taken to **Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre** for evaluation.
Both victims were treated for their injuries, with Headley requiring hospitalization at **Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center** in **Plains Township**. Fortunately, Stephano declined hospital treatment.
Blair faces serious charges including robbery, evading capture, simple assault, theft, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness. He was arraigned by **Magisterial District Judge Ferris Peter Webby Sr.** on **October 26**, where bail was denied due to flight risk concerns. Blair is currently being held at the **Luzerne County Correctional Facility** with a preliminary hearing set for **November 4, 2023**.
This incident has left the community shocked and raised concerns over safety in local establishments. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
