Fatal Crash Near Del Rey Claims Life of 41-Year-Old Man

UPDATE: A tragic accident has claimed the life of a 41-year-old man from Parlier, California, early this morning. The collision occurred at 5:54 a.m. on American Avenue, just east of Del Rey Avenue, when his 2013 Dodge Challenger crashed into the rear of a 2024 Freightliner.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Challenger was traveling eastbound at high speed when it struck the semi-truck, which was slowing down to turn into the Pom Wonderful plant. The impact was devastating, causing the Freightliner to spin into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the Dodge Challenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, raising concerns about the dangers of reckless driving. The driver of the Freightliner sustained minor to moderate injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, authorities report that no drugs or alcohol are suspected to have contributed to the crash.

In response to this tragic event, CHP officials are urging all motorists to slow down, drive responsibly, and always wear seatbelts. “We cannot stress enough the importance of safety on the roads,” a CHP spokesperson stated. “This incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of speeding and neglecting seatbelt use.”

As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of life and reflects on the critical need for road safety awareness. More updates will follow as authorities assess the incident and determine any further actions needed to prevent similar tragedies.
