UPDATE: Five individuals were arrested in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Friday night as part of a significant crackdown on an illegal gambling operation. The Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) confirmed that the investigation revealed the presence of numerous casino-style machines at two locations in the city.
Officers executed searches at 510 Old Steese Highway and 1521 Stacia Street, uncovering a total of more than $55,000 in gambling equipment and $45,053 in cash. They also seized seven cell phones, six computers, and one vehicle linked to the illegal operations. The findings indicate that both establishments were operating as unlicensed gambling venues, featuring cash-based payouts and meticulous record-keeping.
According to FPD, both locations were functioning in coordination as a single illegal enterprise. Evidence collected, including matching financial logs and electronic spreadsheets, supports this assertion.
The arrested individuals include Pilisega Filivaa Jr., David Irae Lefau, Montgomery Finau Kuresa Jr., Marley Etisone Liulama, and Richard Taupea Fola. All five face multiple charges, including promoting gambling, possession of gambling records, and possession of gambling devices. Notably, Filivaa, Kuresa, and Fola received additional charges related to their involvement.
