URGENT UPDATE: The Ford City Motor Lofts in Salisbury, located at 419 South Main St., are officially accepting applications for senior residents as the complex nears completion. This 55-and-older community aims to provide affordable living options, with various layouts available, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.
With a total of 64 units spread across five buildings, the project repurposes the former Ford dealership structure, maximizing every space from the showroom to storage areas. Each unit features large glass-pane windows, enhancing the community atmosphere and natural light flow.
The complex is developed by the Osceola Council on Aging, a well-established organization based in Kissimmee, Florida, known for its senior living initiatives. According to Wendy Ford, President and CEO of the Osceola Council on Aging, the lofts also accommodate secondary residents over the age of 18, allowing for shared living arrangements that can ease rental costs.
Rent prices are set to be budget-friendly, with studio apartments available for $806 per month, one-bedroom units at $859, and two-bedroom apartments at $1,006. Additionally, there are Housing and Urban Development-eligible apartments for residents aged 62 and older, with rents pegged at 30 percent of the applicant’s income.
Beyond the living spaces, the complex will boast a community center, computer lab, gym, laundry facilities, and an art space, fostering a vibrant community for its residents. A dedicated community coordinator will also be on-site to assist with social service needs.
