Free Spay/Neuter Clinic Opens in Austin: Vital Services Offered

URGENT UPDATE: Austin Animal Services, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, has launched a free spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County, running from November 13 to November 17, 2025. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on pet owners, providing essential services including spay and neuter procedures, free vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention treatments.

Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services, emphasized the importance of this event:

“As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe.”

The clinic addresses the urgent issue of animal overpopulation, which leads to increased numbers of stray and homeless pets. This is the sixth clinic organized in the past year, with over 5,000 pets successfully treated. An additional 1,200 animals are expected to benefit from this round of services.

Pet owners are advised to arrive early at the clinic located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758. Registration begins at 6:00 AM and ends at 10:00 AM daily or until capacity is reached. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, making early arrival critical for those seeking assistance.

This effort not only aims to help pets but also fosters responsible pet ownership and enhances community safety. As the clinic prepares for another event in early 2026, organizers highlight their commitment to ensuring that pets receive the care they deserve.

While the anticipated turnout could lead to logistical challenges, the overall impact on the lives of pets and their owners remains paramount. This community-driven initiative underscores Austin’s dedication to improving animal welfare, affirming the right of every creature to quality care and responsible ownership.
