High School Basketball Thrills: Sea, Moore, MSIT Win; Farrell Falls

BREAKING: High school basketball action is heating up as teams clash in thrilling matchups. In the latest showdown at the Boardwalk Classic in Wildwood, N.J., St. Joseph by-the-Sea triumphed over St. Michael Catholic with a nail-biting score of 47-45. Star player Nick Rebracca led the Vikings with a game-high 27 points, showcasing his scoring prowess as he helped his team improve to 1-1 in the tournament.

Rebracca’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, hitting all 7 of 7 free throws, including four crucial attempts in the final quarter. The Mavericks are set to face Pennsbury HS on Tuesday at 1 p.m., aiming to build on this momentum.

In another matchup, the MSIT Seagulls claimed a hard-fought victory against CSIM, 74-68. Ray Guerriero shined with a season-high 20 points, leading his team to victory in the MSIT Christmas Showcase. Coach Charlie Donohue acknowledged the challenge, saying, “Tough win against a tough team, who always comes to play.” The Seagulls are now poised at 7-5 and look forward to continuing their successful run.

In contrast, Monsignor Farrell faced a setback in Daytona, Fla., falling to Lake Howell 49-35. Despite JJ Yates scoring 16 points, the Lions struggled offensively in the third quarter, leading to their first loss after a five-game winning streak. Farrell will look to bounce back against Winter Haven on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

Lastly, the Staten Island Academy Tigers improved to a perfect 10-0 with a 75-67 win over Petrides in the MSIT Christmas Showcase. Danny Nowak led the charge with 19 points, while Gabe Moschella and Luke DeVito contributed significantly. Coach Mike Mazella expressed pride in his team’s performance but acknowledged the need for improvement, saying, “We are thrilled to be undefeated at this point, but we still have so much room for improvement.”
