UPDATE: The 2025 MAAA Volleyball All-Conference teams have just been announced, highlighting a major shift in the conference’s competitive landscape. Out of 24 players selected, a staggering 11 are left-side hitters, showcasing their dominance throughout the season.
The announcement follows a thrilling season where Potosi captured the MAAA tournament title for the first time since 1993, joining Valle Catholic, Bismarck, and Arcadia Valley as district champions. The all-conference selections were released on Sunday, just days after Bismarck secured the Class 1 state championship.
At the forefront of Potosi’s success, Eden Robart emerged as the conference’s leading attacker, while Macyn McCarthy made history as the only libero on the all-conference list, achieving over 1,000 career digs earlier this month. Potosi setter Adalynn Gibson also surpassed the 1,000 assists milestone, solidifying her role in the team’s offensive strategy.
The left-side hitter trend was echoed by Farmington, where seniors Brenna Botkin and Kylie Woods showcased explosive performances. The right-side strength of Ella Pierce and versatile setter Lila Roth contributed to their impressive season.
In a remarkable feat, Ste. Genevieve saw Emma Gegg achieve all-rotation status with over 1,000 varsity digs, while Fredericktown’s Maggie Wood earned a repeat honor, highlighting the depth of talent across the conference.
Valle Catholic’s journey included a hard-fought sectional victory against Arcadia Valley, though they faced defeat in the quarterfinals against the eventual Class 2 champions, St. Vincent. Junior Lexie Rayoum stood out as the top attacker for the Lady Warriors, who remain unbeaten in regular-season Small School play since 2018.
In a season marked by resilience, Bismarck achieved a historic 39-3 record, triumphing over reigning champions Winona after a dramatic comeback from two sets down. Key contributions came from seniors Ashley Hawkins, Halie Dickey, and Kinsey Hubbs, with Hawkins amassing 1,587 kills and 1,315 digs over her four-year career.
The all-conference roster also notes Arcadia Valley’s resilience in the face of challenges, as they produced three all-conference players despite lineup changes. Freshman Alena Maxwell earned recognition, alongside standout performances from Hattie Vinyard and Annabelle Adams.
As the volleyball season wraps up, the focus now shifts to the upcoming state competitions, where these athletes will look to further showcase their skills on a larger stage. Fans and players alike eagerly await the next chapter in their volleyball journeys, as the momentum from this season continues to build.
