Lindsey Vonn Secures 142nd Podium with Back-to-Back Bronzes in France

UPDATE: Lindsey Vonn has just clinched her 142nd career podium, earning back-to-back bronze medals during the World Cup speed weekend in Val d’Isere, France. This achievement comes in a thrilling super-G race held on December 21, 2025, where Vonn finished just 0.36 seconds off the lead.

Sofia Goggia of Italy dominated the course, clocking in at 1 minute, 20.24 seconds to secure her first victory of the season. New Zealand’s Alice Robinson claimed the runner-up position, while Vonn showcased her resilience amidst challenging conditions.

The race unfolded in the picturesque backdrop of the French Alps, with Goggia’s performance marked by emotional highs and lows. After a disappointing performance the day before, she expressed her relief at overcoming her struggles. “Yesterday was really an emotional day for me… I felt really pain inside of my soul,” Goggia remarked, acknowledging how her previous day’s frustration fueled her success.

Robinson, who leads the GS and super-G cup standings, reflected on her performance, stating, “I was a little annoyed… I thought I could have done it better.” Despite the challenging wind conditions, she managed to stay competitive, finishing just behind Goggia.

Vonn’s run was characterized by a strong start, but she lost time after brushing a gate off the Le Telephone jump. However, she regained speed through the meadows, matching Goggia’s compact style in the latter segments of the race. “I didn’t quite have enough direction on the first jump… but I skied well,” Vonn said, highlighting her satisfaction with her performance despite minor setbacks.

This latest podium finish adds to Vonn’s impressive record, following her super-G silver at the World Cup Finals in March. Her recent results include finishes of 2-1-2-4-3-3, showcasing her consistent performance as she competes at the age of 41.

In addition to Vonn, American skier Keely Cashman finished in 11th place, just 0.24 seconds away from the podium. Other American competitors included Tricia Mangan in 24th, Mary Bocock in 33rd, and several others rounding out the field.

The women’s World Cup circuit moves to Semmering for a pair of tech races on December 27-28. The speed racers will have a break until January, when they will compete in downhill and super-G events in Zauchensee on January 10 and 11.

This latest development in the World Cup skiers’ journey not only cements Vonn’s legacy but also sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the season. Fans are eager to see how the season unfolds as these athletes strive for excellence on the global stage.
