Madison County Sheriff Issues Urgent Travel Advisory Amid Snowstorm

URGENT UPDATE: Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood has just issued a travel advisory for Madison County due to severe weather conditions expected on Friday, November 28, 2023. A lake effect snow warning is in effect, bringing dangerous whiteout conditions and slippery roads across the area.

Authorities predict that the lake effect snow will accumulate between 7 to 15 inches in various parts of Madison County, lasting until 7 a.m. Saturday. Road crews are currently mobilized and working diligently to keep access routes clear.

“We want to remind people to be cautious,” Sheriff Hood stated. “If you go out on the roads, make sure you give yourself plenty of time and give the plow trucks plenty of space. We want everyone to get to their destinations safely, including our plow truck drivers and first responders.”

While this travel advisory does not impose restrictions on movement, it strongly urges motorists to limit unnecessary travel and exercise extreme caution if they must drive. Travelers are advised to allocate extra time to reach their destinations and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, especially when approaching intersections.

As conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the day, residents and commuters are encouraged to stay informed and monitor updates from local authorities. This advisory will be revised as necessary to reflect changing conditions.
