Maryland Comptroller Moves Office to Bel Air, Enhancing Accessibility

BREAKING NEWS: Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman has just announced the relocation of her branch office from Elkton in Cecil County to Bel Air in Harford County. This significant move is set to take place in early or mid-February 2024, making it easier for taxpayers to access vital services.

The new office will occupy a 2,650 sq-ft building previously used by M&T Bank on Emmorton Road, enhancing accessibility for residents. Lierman emphasized the importance of meeting taxpayers where they are, stating, “Relocating to Harford County will allow us to meet more taxpayers where they are, reducing the time and distance they must travel to get to us.”

For Marylanders seeking assistance with tax-related matters, the last day for in-person services at the Elkton location will be December 31. However, officials assure that branch employees will remain available for virtual appointments, aiming to expand these options significantly.

“Our commitment to customer service is unrelenting,” said Ana Garay, director of the Taxpayer Services Division. “Whether someone reaches us in-person, online or by phone, the Taxpayer Service Division aims to provide timely, accurate and quality support to taxpayers across Maryland and beyond.”

This relocation is part of a broader strategy to improve service delivery. The comptroller’s office operates several tax services locations statewide, including in Baltimore City, Frederick, and Montgomery counties. Additionally, further relocations are planned for next year in Frederick and Montgomery counties, as the agency seeks to enhance its reach and responsiveness.

With this transition, Maryland taxpayers can expect an improved experience when seeking support for filing or submitting tax returns. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
