Ma’s Kitchen to Open Dim Sum & Noodles Spot on Oct 27
URGENT UPDATE: Ma’s Kitchen, a highly anticipated Singaporean and Cantonese restaurant, is set to officially open its doors on October 27. Located at 1514 York Street, next to the popular Okinawa eatery, the dim sum and noodle-focused spot promises an exciting culinary experience for Denver residents.
The soft opening will kick off at 11 a.m. on Monday, and a grand opening celebration is in the works, featuring a partnership with Tsingtao beer. Guests aged 21 and over will enjoy a complimentary beer while supplies last, along with giveaways and swag. The Zheng brothers, owners of Ma’s Kitchen, are committed to revitalizing the East Colfax corridor despite ongoing construction challenges in the area.
After taking over the space from Tacos Tequila Whiskey founder Kevin Morrison, the Zheng brothers have transformed the venue with deep tones and vibrant red accents. The bar is now stocked with steamer baskets for dumplings, and tables are equipped with a condiment tray featuring soy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, and their own signature XO chile oil.
Visitors can look forward to a diverse menu that highlights both Singaporean and Cantonese dishes, organized into eight sections: appetizers, steamed/pan-fried dumplings, dim sum, buns, noodles/fried rice, entrees, soups, and desserts.
During a recent test dinner, diners were treated to a selection of dishes, including braised pork ribs that were fall-off-the-bone tender, paired with crunchy plum radish strips. The shrimp and spinach dumplings, when pan-fried, offered a delightful crunch, especially when paired with the XO chile oil.
The dim sum menu features options such as Cantonese daikon rice cakes and xiao long bao in regular or spicy varieties. Although there was a mix-up with the order, the flavors were still commendable. The twice-cooked pork stir-fried noodles received rave reviews for their generous portions and bouncy noodles, while entrees like Singapore butter prawns captivated diners with their crispy texture and buttery coating.
Desserts include light bites such as bunny-shaped coconut milk pudding and osmanthus coconut jelly, providing a refreshing end to a flavorful meal.
While the restaurant may still have minor issues to iron out during the soft-opening phase, it is poised to become a vibrant addition to the neighborhood. Ma’s Kitchen will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., starting on October 27, promising to bring a fresh taste to Denver’s dining scene.
For those eager to explore new flavors and support local businesses, Ma’s Kitchen is a must-visit. Stay tuned for updates on the grand opening celebration and additional menu offerings.
