UPDATE: Over 2,000 customers in central Pennsylvania remain without power following severe storms that swept through the region on September 27, 2023. As of 6 a.m. Thursday, approximately 83,700 customers statewide experienced power interruptions, according to PPL Electric.
Most of the outages are concentrated in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Lancaster counties, where repair crews are working diligently to restore power. A spokesperson for PPL, Jane George, stated, “We know how difficult it is to be without power. Crews will continue working to repair any damage and restore power and will not stop until every customer has their power restored.”
The situation remains urgent, as many areas are facing estimated repair times between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday. As of this morning, over 66,140 customers had their power restored, but significant work remains. The storm brought winds gusting up to 55 miles per hour, causing widespread damage and leaving debris scattered across roadways.
