BREAKING: Peter M. Foley, aged 82, has passed away at Lowell General Hospital on October 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A cherished figure in the Dracut community, Peter was known for his lifelong dedication to family, friends, and local business.
With deep roots in the area, Peter was the devoted husband of Carol Gloria Foley for 55 years. Born in Lowell on September 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Eva B. Foley. His journey began at Keith Academy before he honed his skills at a technical school in Boston, eventually leading him to a successful career in the automotive industry.
In 1966, Peter married Carol, and together they raised three children—Michael, Keith, and Garet—instilling values of love and respect. Peter’s entrepreneurial spirit flourished when he opened Foley’s Automatic Transmission in 1967. He later acquired Jack’s Used Cars & Parts in 1975, where he continued to work until his passing. His sons will now carry on the legacy of the family business, ensuring his impact on the community endures.
Peter’s commitment to family was profound. He is survived by his children, Michael P. Foley and wife Mary, Keith P. Foley and wife Kelly, and Garet M. Foley and wife Christine. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren and siblings, James Foley and Maureen Potvin, among many cherished friends who regarded him as a father figure.
Visiting hours are set for Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1 PM to 5 PM at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, located at 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 27, at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsboro. Family and friends are kindly asked to meet at the church for the service. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
