Porterville Council Approves Two Major Community Events

UPDATE: The Porterville City Council is set to approve two significant community events during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, aimed at enhancing local engagement and support.

The first event, organized by the Kiwanis Club of Porterville, is the “Valentine’s Day Pop-Up” scheduled for February 14, 2024, at the Tule River Parkway. This festive gathering will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a variety of craft vendors, informational booths from local nonprofits, and an array of food vendors. An approved outside amplifier permit will allow music and announcements between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. City officials emphasize that this event is designed to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for residents to connect while supporting local businesses.

In addition, the Parenting Network has submitted an application for its “Calling All Superheroes” event, aimed at raising awareness about child abuse. This resource fair is planned for April 22, 2024, at Zalud Park, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Attendees can expect child-friendly activities, family games, and a bike giveaway, fostering community awareness and providing essential resources for families. An outside amplifier permit for this event has been approved from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Both events have been thoroughly reviewed and cleared by city staff, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations. The Finance Department is recommending the council’s approval of both applications, subject to specified conditions.
