RSVP Honors Two Volunteers for 35 Years of Impact

BREAKING: RSVP celebrates two remarkable volunteers, Walt Fisher and Perky Cohen, each marking an incredible 35 years of service that has transformed lives in the community. Their unwavering commitment and expertise have not only empowered individuals but have also strengthened the very fabric of our society.

Walt Fisher, a dedicated steward of service, has been integral to RSVP’s mission since its inception. Serving in roles such as board member, Volunteer Executive Consultant, and financial advisor, Walt has utilized his extensive professional experience to guide numerous organizations towards stability and growth. His most notable achievement came while serving as RSVP’s board treasurer, where his financial insight played a crucial role in fortifying the organization.

Reflecting on his journey, Walt recalls, “RSVP finds the best placement for you. It lets people do something with their passions and desire to help their community. There is always someone out there who needs your skills.” His passion for service extends to his personal life as well; he and his wife have created meaningful memories volunteering together.

On the other hand, Perky Cohen embodies a legacy of creativity and compassion. Coming from a family steeped in volunteerism, Perky’s journey began as a reading specialist, driven by her own experiences with dyslexia. For years, she has built curricula and supported adult education through RSVP, showcasing her dedication to education.

Perky’s talents don’t stop there. Known for her artistic flair, she actively contributes to The Gallery at Rydal Park, where she promotes local artists and inspires others to explore their creativity. “Volunteering lets you share your skills with people who are struggling,” she says, emphasizing the personal fulfillment that comes from her service.

A special art exhibit featuring Perky’s work will open to the public this Saturday at 1:30 p.m., at Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Abington Township, Montgomery County. The exhibit will remain on display until January 2, 2026. Community members are encouraged to visit and support the local art scene.

Both Walt and Perky embody RSVP’s mission of innovation, empowerment, and sustainability. Their combined 70 years of dedication highlight the transformative power of volunteering and inspire new generations to engage in community service.

As RSVP celebrates these remarkable achievements, community members are urged to join the cause. Interested individuals can learn about volunteer opportunities by visiting www.rsvpmc.org or calling 610-834-1040.
