San Marin Triumphs 70-48 Over Casa Grande in Don Bambauer Classic

UPDATE: San Marin High dominated Casa Grande with a commanding 70-48 victory in a boys basketball matchup during the Don Bambauer Classic at Marin Catholic, held on Saturday. The Mustangs surged ahead with a staggering 14-point lead in the first quarter, extending it to a remarkable 24 points by halftime.

Leading the balanced scoring attack for the Mustangs (8-4), Jake Beisler contributed 10 points, while teammates Kellen Dunning, Grant Means, Jason Gillen, and Miller Morgan each added nine points to secure the victory. The Mustangs are set to face Urban (7-3) on Monday, continuing their pursuit of the championship.

Meanwhile, the defending tournament champions, Junipero Serra, pulled off a late rally to defeat Archie Williams High 64-58 in another thrilling contest. With strong performances from Gabe Cerio and Meezy Butler, the Peregrine Falcons built a solid lead, reaching 35-23 in the third quarter. They now prepare to battle Acalanes at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

In other action, San Domenico advanced to the consolation semifinals with a convincing 48-31 win over International, setting up a showdown against Montgomery on Monday.

On a different note, Redwood High showcased their talent as Olen Johnson scored 17 points in a 52-41 victory over Taft at the Damien Classic in LaVerne. They are scheduled to play Cleveland at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

The Branson School also bounced back from a previous loss, defeating Cornerstone Christian in the Diamond Division of the Damien Classic. The Bulls are aiming for victory against Village Christian in their upcoming consolation semifinal.

In girls basketball, Kitty White led Redwood High with 17 points in a 48-39 win over El Dorado at the SoCal Classic. However, San Marin faced challenges, falling behind early and losing to Dublin 65-40 in the West Coast Jamboree. The Mustangs (6-5) will seek redemption against Liberty Ranch on Monday.

The Branson School (8-4) experienced a setback, losing 51-37 to Saint Mary’s during the West Coast Jamboree.
