San Ramon Police Chase: Officer Injured, Two Arrested in Crash

BREAKING: A San Ramon police officer was injured late Sunday night during a dramatic chase involving four suspects linked to a string of auto burglaries and vehicle thefts. The incident escalated when the suspects rammed multiple patrol cars, leading to two arrests and a chaotic scene on the streets.

Authorities report that the police were alerted to the suspects’ return to the area near Kyler Court and Kyler Lane, where a stolen vehicle had previously been abandoned. As police approached, the suspects fled, resulting in a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash and significant damage.

Witnesses described the aftermath, including a broken fire hydrant that sent water shooting into the air. “I heard the sirens, and then a big crash…this fire hydrant just blasting in the air,” said local resident Adam Bieneman.

According to Lt. Leysy Pelayo of the San Ramon Police Department, the fleeing vehicle struck four police cars during the pursuit. “The car hit the driver’s door on the way out and ultimately ended pinning the officer’s leg momentarily between the door and the door frame,” Pelayo added.

Two suspects have been taken into custody while police continue to search for the remaining two individuals involved. The arrested suspects face multiple charges including hit and run for injuring the officer, possession of stolen property, and vehicle burglary.

Police are actively working to identify and apprehend all individuals involved to ensure community safety. “We’re being proactive to make sure that we end up identifying the people responsible and apprehending them,” Pelayo stated.

The injured officer is currently receiving medical attention, and further updates on their condition are expected soon. This incident underscores the ongoing issues of vehicle thefts in the region, prompting increased police vigilance.

As the situation develops, San Ramon residents are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to authorities. More information will be provided as police continue their investigation into the chase and the broader context of vehicle theft in the area.
