BREAKING: Former Councilwoman Selena Samios has officially reclaimed her seat on the Royal Palm Beach Village Council following a nail-biting election held on March 10. Samios triumphed with 1,175 votes—a slim 50.98 percent—to unseat incumbent Councilman Adam Miller, who garnered 1,130 votes or 49.02 percent. This election saw just over 2,300 voters cast their ballots, highlighting significant community engagement.
The results were confirmed at the Brass Ring Pub, where supporters gathered to celebrate Samios’ victory. She is set to be sworn in during the village’s annual reorganizational meeting on March 19. “I am extremely pleased with the election results,” Samios stated. “I am honored that the residents of Royal Palm Beach have entrusted me to represent them for another two years.”
Samios, who first joined the council in 2016, emphasized her commitment to serving all residents, regardless of their voting preference. “I want to ensure that Royal Palm Beach remains a unique and family-friendly community,” she said. Her immediate focus will be on local senior citizens, with plans for an updated senior needs assessment and efforts to support local businesses facing rising commercial rents.
“I am also concerned about dramatic increases in commercial rents,” Samios remarked, indicating that addressing this issue will be a priority. She aims to enhance business success through updates to sign regulations and other codes.
The former councilwoman highlighted her dedication to maintaining Royal Palm Beach’s character amid community concerns about overdevelopment. “We can’t lose our unique character and charm as a village,” she cautioned. Residents have voiced frustrations over rapid development, and Samios plans to consider their concerns in future council decisions.
In response to her loss, Adam Miller expressed respect for the election outcome and gratitude towards his supporters. “Losing by such a small margin is disappointing, but I’m proud of the campaign we ran,” he said, focusing on positive engagement with the community. Miller highlighted his commitment to thoughtful decision-making, supporting parks, and maintaining stable taxes during his tenure.
“I spent a great deal of time during the campaign talking with residents about the things that matter most in Royal Palm Beach,” Miller added. He intends to remain involved in local initiatives and events, emphasizing that public service extends beyond elected positions.
As Samios prepares to take office once more, her determination to address the needs of the community is clear. “I look forward to working with all of our residents as we continue to plan for the future of our village,” she concluded.
