Shoplifting Suspect Caught Fleeing on Bus in Rocky River

UPDATE: A 32-year-old man from Geneva was arrested for shoplifting after an urgent chase in Rocky River, Ohio, late yesterday afternoon. Police responded to a request from the Fairview Park Police Department regarding a suspect who allegedly stole items from the Kohl’s store at the Westgate Shopping Center.

At approximately 4 p.m. on December 27, the suspect fled the scene towards Wagar Road. Officers quickly located him attempting to board a bus near Center Ridge Road. Upon noticing the police, the suspect tried to escape through a nearby parking lot, but was apprehended shortly after.

Inside his possession was a paper bag filled with stolen merchandise, including Nike socks and Adidas underwear, all still tagged with Kohl’s prices. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the custody of the Fairview Park Police for processing.

This swift response highlights the ongoing battle against retail theft in the region and demonstrates the collaboration between local police departments. Authorities are reminding residents that shoplifting can lead to serious legal consequences.

In a separate incident, police cited a 45-year-old Cleveland woman for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Hilliard Boulevard at 10:30 p.m. on December 23. Her vehicle was towed following the citation.

Additionally, police responded to multiple reports of disorderly conduct on Morewood Parkway at around 2 p.m. on December 24. Witnesses described a man in a white tow truck yelling at an elderly woman while pounding on her door. Officers arrived to find the 41-year-old man leaving the woman’s driveway. After swearing at officers, he was cited for disorderly conduct and directed to leave the area.
