UPDATE: A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Henry Clay Township has left three people dead and five others hospitalized following a devastating collision on Route 40. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on October 16, 2023, according to state police officials.
Preliminary reports indicate that a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound veered into the westbound lanes, striking a Ford pickup truck head-on. The force of the collision caused the pickup to crash into a Chevrolet express van in a subsequent head-on impact. The three victims—drivers of the tractor-trailer and Ford pickup, along with a front-seat passenger in the van—were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed five occupants of the van, including its driver, to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. The conditions of those injured have not yet been disclosed.
