UPDATE: Two men were violently slashed by knife-wielding attackers in a shocking incident in Queens early Sunday morning, December 7. The attack occurred just after 4:08 a.m. along Barnett Avenue and 48th Street in Sunnyside, leaving one victim with serious injuries.
According to police reports, the men were trying to retrieve a two-wheeled device when they were ambushed by two suspects brandishing a knife. Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to a 911 call and arrived to find a 27-year-old man with a slash wound to the face and a 25-year-old man suffering a slash wound to the neck.
The older victim was transported by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Meanwhile, the younger man declined medical assistance at the scene, according to law enforcement sources.
A knife was recovered at the scene, and police are actively searching for the two suspects involved in this brutal attack. Authorities have not yet released descriptions of the assailants, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant, as this incident reflects a troubling trend in the area. Felony assaults in the 108th Precinct have surged by 11.6% this year, with 278 incidents reported through November 30, compared to 249 last year. Overall crime in the precinct has increased by 2.08%.
