Urgent Cleanup Day at Pioneers Rest Cemetery Set for Tomorrow

UPDATE: Pioneers Rest Cemetery is hosting an urgent cleanup day tomorrow, October 14, 2023, and needs volunteers to help maintain the grounds. This community-driven event is open to all ages, and participation is crucial for preserving the cemetery’s beauty.

Individuals, church groups, scout troops, and students from high schools and colleges are encouraged to join the effort. The event kicks off early in the morning and runs throughout the day, allowing volunteers to come and go as their schedules permit. Every minute counts, and any amount of time contributed is appreciated.

Volunteers will engage in several tasks, including picking up trash (with bags provided), weeding, mulching, and trimming overgrown vegetation. Additionally, there will be opportunities to clean headstones, with supplies and training available for those who need guidance. Treatment for fire ant beds will also be provided, ensuring a safer environment for all.

Water and snacks will be available for volunteers, but participants are encouraged to bring their own tools and equipment, as well as sunscreen and insect repellant.

IMPORTANT: The cleanup day is contingent on weather conditions, so volunteers should check local forecasts before heading out. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact in the community while honoring the legacies of those laid to rest at Pioneers Rest Cemetery.

Don’t miss out on this chance to contribute! Share this with friends and family to spread the word and encourage more volunteers to join this meaningful cause. Together, we can ensure that Pioneers Rest Cemetery remains a beautiful tribute for generations to come.
