UPDATE: A woman has been hospitalized following a serious accident in Jamestown, where a pickup truck collided with a tanker truck full of unleaded gasoline. The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on November 2, 2023, at 900 1st Ave. S, in front of the former Hardee’s.
According to Lt. Nick Hardy of the Jamestown Police Department, the male driver of the pickup truck lost control while turning from Business Loop West onto First Avenue. Witnesses suggest he may have overcorrected, causing the pickup to crash into the side of the tanker truck. This violent collision dragged the pickup for an estimated 30 feet.
Emergency services responded swiftly, with the Jamestown Fire Department dispatched at 10:56 a.m.. A team of 14 firefighters arrived on the scene with one heavy rescue vehicle to assist. “We had to call fire and rescue to pull it away from the tanker and then they cut the door off to get the female passenger out, who was claiming some neck and back injuries,” Lt. Hardy stated.
The injured woman was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by the Jamestown Area Ambulance. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in this dramatic accident. The fire department cleared the scene by 11:35 a.m., but the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
