URGENT UPDATE: The United States Postal Service (USPS) has confirmed it will operate normally on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, despite the federal government being closed. Following an executive order from President Donald Trump, December 24 and 26 have been declared federal holidays this year, granting many federal employees extra time off.
While USPS will maintain its standard mail delivery schedule on Christmas Eve, local post offices will remain open. Customers are advised to check specific operating hours in their areas as they may vary. However, note that all post offices will close for Christmas Day, with mail services resuming on December 26.
In addition to USPS, major private shipping companies are adjusting their services for the holiday. UPS will provide limited services on Christmas Eve, only allowing prearranged pickups for Air and international Air services. Regular UPS delivery will continue, and stores will remain open. For urgent shipping needs, UPS Express Critical service is available every day of the year.
Meanwhile, FedEx will also operate on a modified schedule, with FedEx Freight closed and FedEx stores open for limited hours. However, FedEx Custom Critical service will be available 24/7 for time-sensitive deliveries.
As holiday travel and shipping needs surge, customers are encouraged to plan accordingly. With federal operations paused, the impact on mail and shipping could be significant. Stay tuned for updates and ensure you check with local offices for any changes to service hours this holiday season.
