A man was arrested on Sunday evening following a hit-and-run incident in Santee, California. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDSO) reported that the crash occurred around 21:27 in the 9000 block of Mission Gorge Road.
Witnesses indicated that the suspect’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Mission Gorge and Fanita Drive. The vehicle collided with another car, leaving the motorist inside and obstructing traffic. The driver, later identified as Robert Panza, aged 37, fled the scene on foot, heading towards the nearby San Diego River.
Authorities quickly responded to the scene and managed to contain the area. They apprehended Panza shortly thereafter. Observations made by law enforcement suggested that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Following the arrest, Panza was booked into sheriff’s custody on charges of misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run offenses.
