United Talent Agency (UTA) has signed British comedian Simon Brodkin, recognizing him as “one of the U.K.’s most exciting stand-up comedians.” This partnership aims to elevate Brodkin’s profile internationally, particularly in the United States, as he embarks on a series of global tours.
Brodkin has gained popularity for his dynamic performances and unique characters, including the outrageous “comedy legend” Lee Nelson and the flamboyant soccer player Jason Bent. His career has been marked by memorable pranks targeting public figures, such as Donald Trump, Kanye West, and former FIFA president Sepp Blatter, which have further solidified his reputation in the entertainment industry.
Successful Tours and Digital Impact
His recent international tour, “Screwed Up,” has been a significant success, extending four times due to overwhelming ticket demand. Notably, Brodkin performed at the prestigious Royal Variety Performance in front of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The tour’s recording on YouTube quickly became the most viewed U.K. comedy special on the platform, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences both live and online.
Brodkin’s stand-up clips consistently attract millions of views, reflecting his strong digital presence. Bjorn Wentlandt, UTA’s comedy touring agent based in London, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Brodkin, stating, “We’re very excited to work with Simon, who is truly in the Premier League of U.K. stand-ups.”
Strategic Growth and Future Plans
The objective of this collaboration is to harness UTA’s extensive resources to accelerate Brodkin’s success globally. UTA boasts over 20 dedicated comedy touring agents across its offices in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, and London.
Brodkin, who describes himself as “the world’s most famous blagger,” is known for his satirical hoaxes and public antics. In June 2016, he famously disrupted the re-opening of the Trump Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, distributing golf balls adorned with red swastikas. In 2017, he made headlines by interrupting then-U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May‘s speech at the Conservative Party conference, presenting her with a mock employment termination form amid political speculation.
With this new partnership, Brodkin aims to elevate his international presence further. He emphasized his desire for “elite level representation for my international tours,” expressing confidence in UTA as “the best in class.”
As Brodkin joins UTA’s expanding roster of international comedians, which includes notable names like Celeste Barber, Zakir Khan, and Vir Das, the future looks promising for this dynamic performer. His unique blend of comedy, social commentary, and digital savvy positions him for continued success on the global stage.
