Professionals in the mental health field are invited to a continuing education workshop titled “Working with Emotion Across Cultures: An EFT Approach,” presented by Dr. Cheryl Dueck Smith. This event is organized by Central Valley Behavioral Health in collaboration with the San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association. It will take place on March 15, 2024, at the Sierra Meadows Behavioral Health facility located in central Fresno, California.
Workshop Details and Objectives
The workshop will begin with a check-in and social networking session at 08:30 AM, followed by the presentation at 09:00 AM. Participants can expect a comprehensive exploration of emotion-focused therapy (EFT) strategies that can be applied across various cultural contexts.
This engaging lecture aims to enhance attendees’ understanding and application of emotion-based interventions. By the end of the event, participants will be able to:
- Describe the essential components of emotion, including physiology, cognition, behavior, and both surface and deeper feelings.
- Explain how culture shapes emotional expression, meaning-making, and behavioral responses.
- Apply EFT principles to access and organize emotions, fostering awareness and promoting the development of new, more adaptive interaction patterns.
