Florida Substitute Teacher Arrested and Fired After Classroom Meltdown

Lake Minneola, FL — A Florida substitute teacher was arrested and fired immediately after a shocking classroom meltdown that disrupted learning and alarmed students and staff. Angela Faith Jourdan engaged in erratic behavior that included making explicit sexual remarks to students, twerking, and physically grabbing a student at Lake Minneola High School.

The incident unfolded around 10:20 a.m. when a school resource officer responded to a disturbance reported inside a classroom. According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Jourdan yelled incoherently, slammed her hands on desks, and resisted the authorities’ attempt to remove her, as bodycam footage later revealed.

Deputies reported that Jourdan verbally harassed students, calling herself a “million-dollar prostitute” and making highly inappropriate comments, including offers to engage in sexual acts with students. One student described being yelled at with a derogatory slur and physically grabbed around the neck as the teacher’s behavior escalated.

The Lake County School District confirmed that Jourdan was hired just days earlier on February 4, 2026, and her employment was terminated the same day as the incident. District officials notified parents promptly and praised students for their composed and sensitive reactions, acknowledging that many recognized the event as a potential mental health crisis.

Lake County School Board Chair Bill Mathias said, “That was very moving to me,” highlighting the students’ mature response during the chaotic episode.

The sheriff’s office report notes Jourdan’s history of bipolar disorder and suggests the outburst was part of a mental health episode. Nevertheless, she faces multiple charges including disorderly conduct, simple battery, and two counts of disruption of a school function.

Bodycam footage showed Jourdan asserting, “I am not a threat and I will not be killed. I already got tased by the police in Pine Hills and I double-dare you,” as deputies attempted to escort her from the classroom.

The disruption drew quick law enforcement response and immediate school district action to ensure student safety and maintain order. The incident sheds light on the challenges school districts face with mental health issues among staff and highlights the need for vigilance in safeguarding students’ learning environments.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and court dates for Jourdan’s charges are pending. The community and school district remain focused on supporting students and staff affected by the event.
