The crash involved a Lafayette County School District bus and another vehicle that struck the bus before fleeing the scene without stopping. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the children or bus driver during the incident.

Sheriff Joey East issued a strong warning to the hit-and-run driver and the public, stating, “The safety of our children and the men and women who drive them to school every day is non-negotiable. In Lafayette County, there will be zero tolerance for anyone who puts our students or our bus drivers in harm’s way. Leaving the scene of a crash involving a school bus was a very poor decision, and we will work alongside the Mississippi Highway Patrol to make sure whoever is responsible is held fully accountable.”
